Alan Rickman opens up about playing Severus Snape

Alan Rickman has remained tight-lipped over the last decade about his portrayal of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. In a new interview with Warner Bros. France, Rickman opens up about the role.

Alan Rickman receives James Joyce award in Dublin

Alan Rickman, the actor who plays Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, was recognised for his acting achievements in Dublin today with a James Joyce award. Rickman was awarded the honour (which, incidentally, J.K. Rowling received last year for writing achievements), at The University College of Dublin's Literary and Historical Society.
