Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, the new Harry Potter iOS and Android mobile game, is available to download from today. A collaboration between Warner Bros.’ Portkey Games — a new studio dedicated to Wizarding World mobile experiences — and Jam City, Hogwarts Mystery allows players to create custom characters and play through life as a Hogwarts student.
Set in the 1980s, a decade or so before Harry’s story begins, players will be able to interact with famous characters and locations, learn magic, attend classes, and play through a series of new adventures at Hogwarts. Players can create their own character avatars and form relationships with other students at Hogwarts.
Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City, says:
‘There are so few moments where a mobile entertainment company has the chance to truly bring magic into the world and we’ve been thrilled by the amazing response our game has already received from Harry Potter fans everywhere. We at Jam City have been working hard to ensure that any aspiring witch or wizard can enter Hogwarts through their smartphones and tablets and begin their magical journeys.’
While the game is full of familiar faces (Dame Maggie Smith even recorded dialogue), a number of new characters will also be introduced. Players will meet ‘Penny, a popular Hufflepuff potions expert, Tulip, a rebellious Ravenclaw prankster, and Merula, a Slytherin with a dark past’.
